The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy reported this past January that more teens abuse prescription drugs than any illicit drug other than marijuana. According to the report, more than 2.1 million teenagers abused prescription drugs in 2006.
This website is a consolidation of information about prescription drug addiction, specifically OxyContin. Our purpose is to give addicts and their family members hope and to help them put a recovery plan together.
Some people become addicted to opiate-based prescription drugs legally prescribed by a doctor (check all medicines and dosages before using!). Unfortunately, many young people take these drugs to get high and don’t realize the problems, both short-term and long-term, caused by abusing them—or they believe they won’t become addicted.
